Some more engraving work by CJ Allan

Couple more pictures from my trip to CJ's place this past Saturday...The scroll work is awesome and probably my favorite!

Soooo....

I was able to pay a visit to CJ Allan this past Saturday and check out what he's been up to lately...I'm fortunate to be able to call him a friend and learn a small fraction of all of the stuff he's been involved in over the years...Anyway, the latest project that he's working on is a very limited run of engraved brass padlocks...He can engrave lots of different stuff on the locks using artwork that you provide; within reason of course...He was kind enough to make up a few for me that display a little German history or call it whatever you want...Usually he would black out the areas that are stippled, but decided to leave them bare brass this time...I think they turned out very nice and these engraved locks are definately a step away from what you would typically find CJ engraving...Like I said, he's doing a very limited run of these and several have already been spoken for...If you're interested in one (or more) stop by his blog (http://cjsengraving.blogspot.com/) and send him an email; you'll be glad you did...And, if you're even slightly interested in obtaining a piece of his artwork, better jump at the chance NOW because he won't be doing this stuff forever!

Ahhh, Monday...

Hope yours is going better than the guys who used to own these shoes!

Happy Friday!

Citroen Karin Concept from 1980

I like vintage sports cars, concepts and whatnot...This is a Citroen Karin concept from 1980 and looks like it's pretty far out there...Not sure that I really care for the way the thing looks, but gotta appreciate the effort...One interesting thing to note is the fact that the driver's seat is in the middle with passenger seats on each side, kinda like a McLaren F1...Anyway, have a look:

Corvette ZR-1 based Bertone Mantide

Most people that know me are aware that I worked in the paint department at the Corvette assembly plant in Bowling Green KY for a little over 3 years, a few years back...Whenever something new comes out concerning this car, I'm always interested in checking it out since I spent a portion of my life inside the place...Never owned one of the cars before, but it was still a great experience during my time at Corvette...Anyway, I recently ran across these pics of a ZR-1 based Bertone Mantide...I don't know much of anything about this car, but it's an interesting concept; not sure that I really care for it though...I do, however, think that GM is actually on to something with their new designs for the Sting Ray which I posted pics of on here a while back...Anyway, check out these pics of the BM:

Saturn

So, the Cassini spacecraft has been hanging out at Saturn for a little over four years now...Here are some very cool pictures of the plant that were recently released by NASA...The last pic is the surface of one of Saturn's moons:

I like these...

Volcanic lightning

Apparently this was the first time that anyone has ever been able to capture this sort of thing on film...Not sure what scientists learned from it, but it makes a neat photo!

Crazy!

Portraits of American Bikers: Life in the 1960's

Neat book full of a bunch of cool photos of the Detroit Outlaws taken throughout the 1960's...In my opinion it has the same feel as Danny Lyon's "The Bikeriders." Definitely worth picking up if you don't already own it:
